Mark Manzi on His Research of Stories to Capture and His Photo-Book “25”

May 23,2020 . Naomi Di Meo

A drive-by interview with Mark about photography and his future goals.

Naomi:  When was the first time you thought that photography was your thing?

Mark: I remember my photography teacher during my A Levels told me that my photos we’re ‘superb’,  after that I thought that maybe I can do it.

Naomi: What does photography mean to you?

Mark: Documenting life and light.

Naomi: Were there times when you thought photography was more of an hobby rather than a career?

Mark:  I think it still very much is a hobby for me, I don’t take it too seriously. I take my compositions, colors, framing and so on seriously but the practice of photography is very much a fun activity.

Naomi: How would you define you style?

Mark: I think I take a lot of reference from older photographers, especially those in the late 50s to the 80s. I like that back then photographs were more timeless.

Naomi: What do you wish to tell through your shot?

Mark: Stories, if you can imagine a story from my image, then it’s done it’s job. I try not to have too much of a narrative, everyone has a different imagination.
